Women Who Change the World Don’t Wait to Be Noticed—They Make Their Presence Known

Women’s History Month reminds us that visibility is key for women in leadership. Personal branding for women has never been more important, as it helps leaders establish credibility, increase brand awareness, and create lasting impact.

What do Oprah, Ava DuVernay, and Reese Witherspoon all have in common? They didn’t just create; they made sure the world saw them.

The Problem:
For decades, brilliant women have done extraordinary work—yet too many remain undiscovered, uncelebrated, and underpaid simply because they’re not visible enough. This isn’t just true in film—it’s true in leadership, business, and personal branding.

Often times as women, we’re reluctant to step forward. We’ve been taught to be humble. Society continues to remind us that if we’re too bold, we’re considered too strong, unfeminine, and let’s face it – sometimes we’re even called the B word

Turning Point:
I saw this firsthand when I launched the Women’s International Film Festival. Women filmmakers were creating masterpieces, but because they didn’t know how to build their personal brand or leverage media, their work often went unnoticed. That’s when I realized: visibility isn’t optionalit’s essential.

Resolution:
Every powerful woman you admire—whether in film, business, or leadership—has one thing in common: they’ve built a personal brand that commands attention. It’s not just about talent; it’s about owning your story and amplifying it in the right spaces.

Core Lesson:
Your work deserves the spotlight. Your voice deserves to be heard. And your brand? It deserves to be seen and valued at the highest level.

Application:
This Women’s History Month, I challenge you: How are you making yourself visible? Are you seizing media opportunities? Are you strategically positioning yourself for success?
